You drive up to your favorite steak house. Your mouth waters at the savory aroma wafting across the parking lot. You head to the restaurant door.
Meanwhile, over the hot grill in the kitchen, grease is collecting in the duct above the grill hood. Cleaning the grill hood, ductwork, and exhaust fan is a very onerous job, but somebody's gotta do it, for fire safety and sanitation. Many devices have been tried to spray hot, caustic cleaning solutions into the hood, exhaust duct, and fan. It's difficult to cut the grease loose.
Dry ice blasting comes to the rescue!! Rice-sized pellets of dry ice are propelled by compressed air from a dry ice blasting machine. They harden the grease by chilling it, and then sweep it off the surfaces to be cleaned. The surfaces are sanitized at the same time. There's no caustic solution to endanger workers. Time and labor are saved, worker safety is improved, and an unpleasant cleaning chore becomes a lot less bother.
